This document aims to establish general technical requirements for product carbon footprint assessment that are suitable for the national conditions of China. It provides guidance for third-party organizations, enterprises, and other relevant entities to conduct product carbon footprint assessments based on the methodology of life cycle assessment. The goal is to enhance the standardization and transparency of product carbon footprint assessment and reporting in China, scientifically and effectively guide stakeholders in identifying greenhouse gas reduction opportunities, and formulate and implement greenhouse gas management plans and measures throughout the product lifecycle. Additionally, it lays the technical foundation for building the carbon footprint standard system framework in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and promoting carbon footprint labeling and certification in the Greater Bay Area.
