Recently, with support from Carbon Newture, Kingwills Advanced Materials completed a product carbon footprint assessment for its flagship material, Hypak™, and received a Product Carbon Footprint Verification Statement issued by SGS. The statement provides credible, authoritative third-party evidence of the innovative material’s low-carbon performance.

This marks an important milestone in Kingwills’ journey toward sustainable carbon management. From advancing green production to making its product carbon footprint verifiable, Kingwills has embedded its commitment to sustainability throughout every stage of material innovation.

01 Green Production: Embedding Sustainability at the Source

The green value of Hypak™ begins with how it is made.

Kingwills integrates efficient energy and resource use throughout its production processes. It has established a five-pillar green production system encompassing solar power, heat recovery, water recycling, solvent circulation and waste recycling, reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions at the source while improving energy efficiency and maximizing resource circulation.

Hypak™ is a distinctive material that combines the advantages of paper, fabric and film. It brings together several seemingly contradictory properties: it is waterproof yet breathable, lightweight yet strong, and highly resistant to tearing and puncturing. While meeting diverse application needs, its mono-material composition of 100% high-density polyethylene (HDPE) provides a sound basis for subsequent sorting and recycling.

03 From Regulatory Requirements and Brand Procurement to Green Consumption: The Sustainable Value of Hypak™ Is Supported by Verifiable Evidence

As sustainability requirements become increasingly integrated into brand procurement and product development, the environmental performance of materials is emerging as an important consideration alongside functionality.

This shift is particularly evident in consumer goods closely connected to everyday life.

Take packaging as an example. Requirements concerning packaging reduction, recyclability and reuse under the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) are being implemented. This means brands must consider material reduction and circular use from the earliest stages of packaging design.

Beyond regulatory requirements, brand procurement practices and consumer preferences are also accelerating this shift.

As brands advance product carbon footprint assessments and Scope 3 emissions management, carbon data on raw materials provided by suppliers is becoming an important reference in procurement decisions.
